Deborah has coffee regularly with another missionary here named Beth. She has recently retired from running Scripture Union for Uganda. She is in her transition out time and is still serving that ministry doing teachings, visiting schools, fundraising, encouraging… She was talking with a couple ladies and mentioned she could use some bibles. A woman heard about this need and sent her a shipping container full of NLT bibles. WOW! Our God the provider J
When Deborah was having coffee with her Beth shared this story and then offered us some bibles. Deborah said ok, yes, any you could give us we could use. Even one box would help! She gave us five boxes (which is 80 bibles). Praise the Lord!

We gave four boxes to the outlying prisons (Kamuli, Kiyuna, Namungarwe, Iganga – these prisons are not in the Jinja proper area). Timothy and the team go to those four prisons on the third Thursday of each month to preach and share the love of Christ. He told me so many souls got saved in July, praise the Lord again!! So we thought it was a great fit to send bibles to those prisons.
The fifth box we gave to Pastor Joseph who opened Hill Side Calvary Chapel in Bugembe, and he is still the apologetics & music teacher at Called Christians School of Ministry (SOM). He shared how a Mu*lim man came to his church the last weekend and got saved. He wanted a bible but P.Joseph didn’t have any. So we gave a box to him and he gave them away at the next Sunday morning service.

You would think the story would end there, right? But God…. sent a note to Beth about how we are using the Bibles and she was so excited she sent us 10 more boxes of Bibles (160 bibles), praise the Lord again!!! We laughed and said it was a good problem to have, trying to figure out the where/who for these bibles.
Here’s the plan we came up with:
1 box to Pastor Jeremiah, we will go to his church in October with the SOM students to help them with an outreach
1 box to Pastor Augustine, we will go to his church in March with the SOM students to help them with an outreach
The rest to prisons:
1 box to Igana Womens
1 box to Igana Mens
2 boxes to Jinja Remand (where you wait for your day in court)
2 boxes to Jinja Main prison
1 box to Jinja Womens
1 box to Bugungu YP
Also, we had given 10 bibles to Bugungu YO just the week before, the extras from SOM (YO is where we installed the volleyball court a couple years ago).
We also prayed and thought it was a good time to donate the extra Maxwell Leadership Bibles we had purchased for SOM. We are giving these to people in leadership roles at the prisons we serve: Iganga, Remand, Main, Womens, YP, Kamuli, & the new medical officer at Main prison. Please pray for the OC’s and medical staff at prisons (OC = officer in charge).
As we faithfully pursue what God asks us to do, His provision shows up! Each day we serve and let God do what He wants. We spend time, money, resources; pouring into prisoners and raising up young Christian leaders for His glory. And yes, when someone gives us Bibles we get them back out the door as quick as possible. Praise God for his provision!
God is using us to advance His Kingdom in so many different ways and we are humbled and so full of joy. Making disciples, one soul at a time, with whatever resources He puts into our hands. Lord may we faithfully serve you.
